Need EVE Online ISK? Don't buy it, trade for it! CCP has a great service for EVE account holders called the Secure Time Code Exchange. This exchange allows the online trading of time codes for ISK and is located on the EVE website. Here's a video explaining the whole thing:

EVE Time Code Exchange F.A.Q.

What is the Secure Time Code Exchange?

The Secure Time Code Exchange (STCE) is a secure method of selling your EVE code for ISK. It works by allowing you to submit your code and price through a secured system that prevents duplicate codes from being sold and prevents ISK form being withheld by a buyer.

How do I get to the STCE?

Just login to your account at www.eve-online.com. You can find a "Securely Sell Eve Time Code" link located under Account Services.

How does the STCE work?

The STCE is a secure method for completing your timecode transaction. Those already familiar with negotiating for code-to-ISK trades online won't need to change a thing. You negotiate your trade though familiar methods: forums, in-game, chat channels, etc. Once you've found a buyer for your code, you log into the STCE. Once there, you select the in-game account you're "selling from" and enter the name of the character you're selling to, the code you're selling, and the ISK amount you're selling the code for. The web server validates that the code is legitimate and notifies the buyer through evemail. The buyer then logs into his or her account management page and accepts the purchase. Once the transaction has been accepted, the game transfers the ISK to you and the code to the buyer. The buyer has 48 hours to approve the order. After that time, the order is automatically declined and the code is returned to you.

Where can I get an EVE time code to trade for ISK?

You can buy EVE codes here. This is a great site that has the lowest EVE code price on the market. They also sell a wide variety of other game time codes.

What makes this a safer method of selling EVE GTCs?

This method guarantees that the buyer will never buy an invalid code and that the seller will never accidentally sell a code twice. It also ensures that the seller is paid for their code.

What if I accidentally sell a code twice?

Using this system, you can't accidentally sell a code twice. The website checks to see if the code is valid and if it's been used before. If it has, the sale offer won't be sent to the buyer and you will be informed that your code is invalid. This also helps if you were typing the code by hand and made a mistyping.

How long is my offer active?

The buyer will be able to accept your offer for up to 48 hours from when you posted the offer. After this time, the offer will be cancelled and you can then sell the code to someone else.

What if the buyer doesn't have enough ISK?

If the buyer doesn't have enough ISK, they simply cannot complete the transaction. After the 48 hours is up, the order will be cancelled as normal. If the buyer is able to raise the funds during that time, they can complete the transaction on the website.

How do I know if the code sold?

Your in-game wallet will be fatter. The ISK should be transferred instantly as soon as the buyer finishes the transaction.

What if I didn't get my ISK?

If your code sold but you no ISK appeared in your wallet, you can contact an EVE Game Master and they will investigate your case as soon as possible. If they confirm you sold a code but didn't get paid, you will be reimbursed.

What if I traded a code through email didn't get my ISK?

Sorry about that but there's nothing the folks at CCP can do for you. They have no method of verifying the details of your transaction so you will be out an EVE code. The STCE is the official method for this sort of trade and you should avoid alternate forms of trade. If you have a buyer who claims they can't use this method, you should be very suspicious of their intentions. As far as your lost code goes, you might be able to prevent some loss by applying the code right away to your own account.

As with any form of selling online, you assume the risk of being cheated. The STCE greatly reduces your risk and you can further minimize your risk by knowing your market. Before selling, make sure to look through both forums to get an idea of what the going exchange rate between Isk and game codes are. Also, spend some time in the EVE Online Marketplace Discussion to understand the accepted process for trading.

Secure Time Code Exchange

Hello, I'm Marcus Eikenberry; I'm the managing member of www.ShatteredCrystal.com. We've got some really exciting news, EVE online just announced a new way to securely purchase ISK. Now in the past it's been a violation of the Terms of Service for EVE to buy or sell ISK. They have allowed the trading of game time codes for ISK for quite awhile now in the forums. Well, this has worked really well and a lot of people have been really successful at it. It's been a pretty easy way to buy ISK.

Although there have still been fraud issues. Now with the fraud issues, most people learn how to do it okay. There were always complaints about people getting ripped off and sold an invalid game time codes in exchange for ISK and stuff. Well CCP has instituted an official way to now safely buy a game time code and convert it into ISK.

Behind me here we have EVE's website and we'll get back to that in just a second here. For buying your game time, of course, I'm going to tout www.ShatteredCrystal.com because that's the shop that we run here. Shattered Crystal sells EVE game time in both 30 day and 90 day increments. Once you go to the Shattered Crystal site, which is www.ShatteredCrystal.com, simply scroll down to the EVE Online category and click that and you're presented with two options there. The options are to buy EVE game time in either the 30 day increment or the 90 day increment. The prices you'll find are very low. For those of you who are in Europe with the exchange rate you'll find that it's actually about 20% lower than what you can buy it for in Euros.

So, you go through the "buy" process, it's pretty easy and painless. We accept Paypal and you get your codes in email. First time buyers you'll get the code usually within about 20 minutes and if you're an existing buyer it usually only takes a couple minutes, so it's pretty easy. After you've received your game time, which we sent to you in email, you go to log in at the EVE website. You'll want to go to your Account details and you'll find a new option here that's "Account Services". Once you're in Account Services you'll find that there's a new option down here to securely sell EVE game time codes. This is pretty cool and easy too! Once you click on that it's as simple as selecting your character that you want to be the seller (to receive the ISK). Then you put in the character name of the person that you'll sell the ISK to. You have to put in the EVE time code and then of course the asking amount, click next and it will start processing the order for you. What it will do is it will alert the other person in-game that the ISK is on the way and it will offer them the option to accept it. Now this offer goes out there for 48 hours, if they don't accept it within 48 hours it comes back to you. How do you know that the code they're sending you is valid? Well CCP checks the code to make sure it has not been used before it is sent to you. So you're guaranteed that the code will work.

This is one of the safest ways that we've seen to get your ISK and it's completely within the Terms of Service. You're NOT going to get your account banned for doing this, especially since its CCP sanctioned. You can't beat that! As I mentioned before, the offer is active for 48 hours if after 48 hours the person you're selling to has not responded or is short on funds and hasn't been able to raise enough more ISK to buy the code, then it will be automatically sent back to you. You'll know the transaction has gone through because as soon as it has gone through you'll see this new amount of ISK within your characters inventory. There are a couple of issues that are known about this process. CCP has set up that if for ANY reason there is ANY sort of error that causes you to not get the ISK or the person who is suppose to be buying the game time doesn't get an alert. You just need to file a petition and CCP will take care of you. So if you want to buy ISK this is the legal way to do it. It will not get your account banned and it's absolutely what we are recommending.
